Are you an experienced Software QA Tester looking for an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing software for world-class, cutting-edge products?

If so, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a QA Engineer to join the R&D team for a prestigious semiconductor company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

The position of Software QA Engineer is part of a cross-functional engineering team. You will be part of a tight knit software group working on real-time machine control, automation, algorithm implementation, UI, data-analysis and contributing in areas such as diagnostics and predictive maintenance for our platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write and execute test plans for new UI features.
  • Exploratory and Regression testing.
  • Help develop and document requirements.
  • Help educate and advocate for testing best practices and overall product quality.
  • Participate in design and documentation reviews.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams to understand requirements and get issues addressed.
  • Look at the product holistically and rigorously test the UI to find inconsistencies and issues that are difficult to test automatically.
  • Identify and/or create environments/conditions needed for testing.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of an integrated software team whilst also being able to work independently.
  • Work across functions (Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Research, Electronics) to help identify issues and guide the optimal technology choices, architectures, and implementation.
  • You have tested and shipped products and features.
  • Experience testing windows desktop applications/UI (C#,WPF).
  • Experience writing and executing test plans.
  • Knowledge of OOP and testing methodologies.
  • Attention to detail and organisation.
  • Courage to champion the user perspective and the quality of the project.
  • Pragmatism to prioritise issues and prevent perfect being the enemy of great.
  • Basic knowledge of Python.
  • Understanding of the principles of real-time machine control.
  • Software experience using C# (or C++).
  • Knowledge or experience of modern software development practices and processes.
  • C# .Net architecture.
  • Systems Engineering understanding or appreciation. 
  • ISTQB Certified.
  • Experience documenting technical requirements.
  • Testing automation experience and scripting.
  • Testing software for real-time control of machine movement (e.g. robotics).

Personal Qualities:
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Collaborative and proactive.
  • Degree educated in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • Other scientific/technical disciplines considered if backed by relevant experience.
